Marisa Milou is a NY native with a passion for art, writing, dance, languages, and handstands. Marisa toured the US doing performance poetry as well as the Millennial Muse Series as Featured Poet with her two first books of poetry. She spent many years in studying and traveling in Europe pursuing her masters degree and thesis on Expressionist Art and working in Europe as a curator, docent, university professor, and dancer. Her first poetic loves are Pablo Neruda, Rainer Maria Rilke, and Sandra Cisneros. Marisa's love of art first began upon discovering Arctic Eskimo Tribal art while living in Homer, Alaska during her childhood. There, Marisa commenced her love of dance upon receiving her first tutu from a neighbor.
Her first poem was written at age 7, inspired by teachers who encouraged students to rhyme words while lining up for lunch. Her first experience as a choreographer was that same year at the school talent show. She is in reverence to her artistic parents (a painter/healer/ reiki master and a musician/singer) and deeply dedicated teachers, most especially Mary Lee Miller and Shari Brown. Marisa is currently working on her first novel and looking forward to many more firsts to come.
